How long will my appointment take?
An initial consultation, work-up and alignment usually takes 15-20 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?
Patients should make regular visits twice a year to prevent potential problem. For chronic conditions, the number of treatments depends on how long it has been a problem. Chiropractic is a practice, not a quick fix like surgery, although the fix may seem quick at first. Usually, it takes time to get the body to where it needs to be after years of conditioning and “compensation.”

Will I need to get an x-ray?
No, x-rays are not required except perhaps in the case of accidents or scoliosis. X-rays can be done on request if the patient, or the parents, needs to see what is causing the problem.

What can I expect at my first appointment?
Dr. Book will do a complete evaluation, including postural analysis. After 44 years in practice, Dr. Book has developed a keen eye which allows him to analyze problems with simple visual observation. During the evaluation, Dr. Book will note the body at rest and in various states of movement.
What is musculoskeletal pain?
Musculoskeletal pain is pain that affects the muscles, ligaments and tendons, along with the bones. Also known as “soft tissue,” musculoskeletal pain can be derived from injuries such as sprains, strains, subluxation, repetitive stress injury and carpal tunnel syndrome.

What is subluxation?
Subluxation is a chiropractic terms that means, simply, that one or more vertebrae has moved out of position and is creating pressure on or irritating a spinal nerve.

Is chiropractic safe?
Yes! That's why more than 20 million Americans seek chiropractic care every year. There are many, many methods of practicing medicine -- from surgery to dentistry to chiropractic. They are all legitimate forms of medical care. 

Is it painful?
Chiropractic does not inflict pain, it makes the pain go away.
